According to police sources, the body of the girl was recovered near the railway track near Amarpuri colony in Dera Bassi at 7.30 am. GRP sources said the victim, who seemed to be around 18 years old, wore a blue T shirt, pants and red and black sleepers and carried a bag in which the police recovered a shirt and trousers, along with a slip with two phone numbers.

Locals said that the girl had approached them to seek a rented accommodation, saying that she was from Delhi and seeking admission at a local dental college. They said she left for the bus stand at around 9.30 pm when they refused. Police sources say that know nothing else about the victim.

The deceased seemed to be 35 years old and wore a pink salwar suit and black plastic sleepers. GRP suspect that she may be a migrant worker.
