For promoting young entrepreneurs, there is a need to build more incubation centres, says UT adviser KK Sharma.
He was addressing a gathering on the inaugural day of the 9th edition of Destination IT@North here on Wednesday. "The entrepreneur development centre (EDC) at the information technology (IT) park here is operational. The government buildings can be used for setting up additional centres. The governments should provide independent spaces and come up with more IT parks and allocate budgets to promote the industry," Sharma said.
The adviser said innovation infrastructure in the country needed to be strengthened. "The governments of the region, industry and academia need to collaborate so that new and innovative solutions can be developed to address the challenges."
He further said that to step up innovation, the administration was working towards setting up the Chandigarh Innovation Council. "The UT department of information technology has been working on formulating the new IT policy and it will be released soon," Sharma said.

{{/usCountry}}She cited the cases of rural innovations which included Mitticool -a refrigerator made of clay and 'jugaad' - a multi-utility vehicle that runs on an engine of an agricultural water pump. "Risk-taking capability is what makes innovators successful. Innovation is the key to sustained growth and administration is making efforts to make the best use of IT by innovating government processes," Puti added.
