Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Mokhra village of Rohtak district, was out on bail and had come to appear in a hearing on Monday. While he was moving toward his advocate's chamber, Kumar was shot by unidentified men.

He was rushed to the civil hospital, but died during the course of treatment. After the victim fell down, assailants fled the spot, which created panic among advocates and others who were present there.

After intimation, Jind SP Anil Dhawan reached the spot with heavy police force to take stock of the situation.

Talking to mediapersons, Dhawan said the victim had come to appear in a hearing related to a case on him under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, the police have started a probe into the matter and have hinted at rivalry as the reason behind the attack on the undertrial.
