After failing to achieve the desirable results, the administration has now decided to send a trans-national nomination for the prestigious heritage status for 2015.

Chandigarh will send nomination for Le Corbusier works along with his other works in countries like France, Switzerland, Belgium, Japan, Germany and Argentina. The decision was taken during a recent visit of UT senior officials to Paris.

Talking to mediapersons, UT adviser KK Sharma said that they would start working on a dossier for sending the nomination under trans-border serial nomination.

The administration has also decided to focus on getting heritage status for selected buildings rather than seeking heritage status for the complete city. "Our focus would be on Le Corbusier's work in Capitol Complex," said KK Sharma.

Designed by Le Corbusier, Capitol Complex has three main buildings, secretariat, legislative assembly and the high court.

Earlier, while applying for the UNESCO heritage status, the UT administration had listed Capitol Complex as one of the most prominent areas of the city.
