UT police are looking into the role of a Punjab police constable and a Punjab government employee after traffic marshal Gurpreet Singh Chadha, who is indicted for leaking information of check posts through instant messaging application WhatsApp on mobile phones, claimed that they were involved in the case.
While Chadha was found responsible for leakage of information after an enquiry by UT cyber crime cell, he himself had lodged a complaint about the group and alleged that information was being leaked by the Chandigarh police staff.
Cyber crime deputy superintendant of police (DSP) Rajesh Kalia is probing the role of Punjab police constable Gurmeet and Gurmohan, a Punjab government employee. They are stated to be important members of the WhatsApp group which leaked information on nakas. This was reported by Chadha and the information is being verified.
The police also recorded the statements of 25 members of the group ‘ Chandigarh di mundeer,’ the group which leaked information about the check posts.
The marshal has given his version in writing. He was temporarily suspended from duty, but the decision has been revoked.

It was found that a message about a naka was sent from Gurpreet’s mobile phone via Bluetooth to a resident in February.
