A 30-year-old Dalit woman and her husband were abducted, stripped naked and brutally thrashed by four members of an upper caste on the night of July 23 in Kahanaur village.
According to the police, the woman had lodged a complaint of gang-rape against two persons of a dominating caste, identified as Rohtash Kumar and Phool Kumar from the same village, three months ago. Enraged by the complaint, four persons had abducted the couple and beaten them black and blue, later abandoning them at a deserted spot.
Doctors attending to the two patients at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, where they were referred from the Kahanaur government hospital a week back, confirmed that the woman had marks of perced nails on her lower back and other parts of the body.
The victim said the two accused belonged to a dominating caste and had raped her. Ever since she had complained to the police, they had been pressurising her to settle the matter without any legal wrangles.
"When we refused to buckle under pressure, on July 23 they kidnapped us and brutally thrashed us, after forcing us to parade naked. They also punctured my wife's (the victim) lower back with iron nails and threatened us of dire consequences if we didn't take our complaint back," said the victim's husband, who works as labourer.

{{/usCountry}}The couple also alleged that instead of arresting the accused, the police too were pressurising them on settling the issue.
A police spokesperson, Ved Prakash Nain said the four accused have been arrested and a case has been registered against them under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC and approriate sections of the SC/ST (The Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Nain further said regarding action against Rohtash Kumar and Phool Kumar, the two accused in the three-month old rape case, the matter was investigated into by the Kalanaur police but found to be fake. Thus, no action was taken against them.
