Criticising the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for opposing the formation of the separate Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Haryana(HSGMC), she said, “There are many gurdwaras belonging to other sects such as those of Nihangs, why doesn’t SAD or SGPC talk of taking control of those gurdwaras?

She said if other states could have separate gurdwara committees, why not Haryana. Bhattal also said it was wrong to suggest the committee was formed keeping in view the coming assembly elections in the state. She said it was a long drawn-out process and that the Haryana Sikhs had been fighting over the issue for a number of years. On the AAP impact, Bhattal said it would have no impact on Punjab poll scene. She said the Patiala seat always belonged to the Congress and it would remain with the Congress even this time.
