Station house officer (SHO) of the Mullanpur police station said the police arrested the accused and rescued the victim. The victim was later handed over to the parents after a medical examination of the victim was conducted. "The result of the examination is awaited," he said.

The police had received a complaint on Tuesday afternoon from the victim's father. In the complaint, the father had alleged that his daughter was a Class 9 student, who went missing from the house.

Following the complaint, the police have registered the first information report (FIR) against Tajinder under Section 366A (procuration of minor girl) and 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
