The 16-year-old boy, who was driving his i-20 car at a high speed when the horrific accident on Zirakpur flyover took place on February 6, surrendered before the police on Wednesday. Three people had been killed in that mishap.
The minor was later released on bail.
Mahinder Singh, a resident of Phase 9, SAS Nagar, brought him to the Zirakpur police station.
The boy revealed that after the accident, he underwent treatment at a hospital, having sustained injuries in the mishap.
He claimed that he was discharged two days ago from the hospital.
It may be recalled that last Friday, two cars drivers , a Pajero and an i 20, were apparently racing on the Zirakpur flyover when their vehicles collided with three other vehicles after crossing the divider. The 17-year-old Pajero driver was killed on the spot, after falling from the flyover.
A biker, Bhupinder Singh, was also killed in the mishap.
An autorickshaw driver died two days after the accident at the GMCH-32 in Chandigarh.
The police had initially booked the owner of the i-20, Sukhwinder Singh.

{{/usCountry}}However, during investigations, it came to light that the vehicle was being driven by the 16-year-old, but shockingly the police had failed to register the statement of the juvenile.
The case was registered on the complaint of Manish Saxena, one of the accident victims, as his car had collided with other vehicles in the pile-up.
The case was registered under Section 304A (death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code.
Zirakpur station house officer Deepinder Singh said the minor was granted bail as it was a bailable offence.
