A clash broke out on Saturday between members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak (RSS) student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at the Hyderabad Central University in which some students were reportedly gravely injured. The scuffle broke out over the student union elections happening in the varsity.

Following the incident, the ABVP accused the SFI students of violence against some tribal student members of its group. The ABVP has alleged the SFI cadre used sharp objects to attack them, news agency ANI reported.

As per the ABVP, those students were beaten up by the SFI activists for not supporting their party.

ABVP national secretary Harikrishna Nagothu blamed the SFI for the violence.
“SFI violence politics has unleashed in @HydUniv, targeted and attacked tribal students and @abvpuoh karyakartas with sharp knives. These goons of hatred should be booked and brought to justice,” Nagothu tweeted sharing photos of the incident.
Meanwhile, the SFI’s Telangana unit alleged that the clash broke out after the ABVP tore the posters of SFI-ASA-DSU alliance. “ABVP goons attacked SFI Comrades of HCU. ABVP goons tore posters of SFI-ASA-DSU alliance. When caught and questioned , they started beating cadres of HCU by chasing them room to room,” they posted on Twitter. They also said one of their members, Akash is seriously injured and is currently in ICU, undergoing treatment.
Visuals shared by ANI showed shattered glasses and damaged doors in the college premises and an injured person being rushed to the hospital in a wheelchair.
The university is holding students union elections for this year. Some visuals shared by the university on Friday on its Facebook profile showed polling activities at various booths taking place on campus.
