According to the BJP, the last General House meeting was held in March. The protest was led by BJP district president and Ward 63 councillor Sunil Moudgil.

“We have 19 councillors and they have not been able to raise the issues faced by residents of their respective wards for the past four months. This dummy General House session also provided a platform for the elected representatives to highlight the concerns of their constituents,” Moudgil said.

To highlight what they termed the civic body’s “apathy”, the councillors placed two empty chairs for mayor Inderjit Kaur and municipal commissioner Ojasvi Alankar during the protest.

Moudgil said, “Neither the mayor nor the commissioner approached the protesting councillors. He alleged that the councillors have also not received their annual ward development funds of 1.5 crore each, affecting development works in their respective wards.”
