A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour on Sunday evening in Maloya. As per the victim’s mother, the girl had gone out of the house to cycle in the afternoon.
After the girl failed to come back till evening, she went looking for her and found her coming out of a neighbour’s house. The girl alleged that the neighbour, Arun, had forcibly taken her to his room and allegedly raped her.
While the accused was not present at his house when her mother went to confront him, she submitted her written complaint to the police.
A case under Section 65(2) of te Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (rape of woman under 12 years old) and various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at the Maloya police station. The accused is yet to be arrested.
