The main shooter who opened fire at a local Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader in November last year has been arrested, the Kapurthala police said on Friday.

A Turkey-made Glock pistol and eight live cartridges were also recovered from the accused, identified as Harvinderpal Singh, alias Indu, a resident of Talwandi Madho in Jalandhar district.
Superintendent of police Harinder Singh Gill said on November 1, 2025, Harvinderpal, along with an accomplice, opened fire at AAP leader Harjinder Singh on the directions of foreign-based gangster Jagdeep Singh, alias Jaggi Phookiwal. Harjinder has escaped unhurt.
An attempt to murder case was subsequently registered at the Sultanpur Lodhi police station.
Gill added that as many as 10 suspects had already been nabbed in the case, while Harvinder had been evading arrest. Police said he was also named in two Arms Act cases registered in 2021 and 2023.
