A patwari posted at the Bawani Khera revenue department in Bhiwani district was arrested by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SVACB) on Thursday for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe from a farmer in exchange for processing compensation related to crop damage.

According to vigilance officials, the farmer, who had suffered crop losses due to adverse weather conditions, in his complaint alleged that the accused Naresh Kumar was demanding a bribe to facilitate the verification and processing of the compensation claim.
The SVACB laid a trap and caught the patwari red-handed while accepting the bribe amount> he was taken into custody. Officials said a case has been registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.
