Chandigarh administration brings 90 more services under RTS Act

The notification clearly defines timelines, designated officers, and appellate authorities, ensuring that services are delivered within stipulated deadlines, counted from the date of complete application submission

In a major push towards enhancing accountability and efficiency in public service delivery, the Chandigarh administration has notified 90 additional services under the Punjab Right to Service Act (as extended to Chandigarh), setting fixed timelines for them. This takes the total covered services to over 700.

Freshly notified services:

Estate Office:

NOC for sale/gift/transfer of lease rights (uncontested): 50 days

Change of ownership/leasehold rights (sale/gift): 30 days

Transfer cases requiring public notice (uncontested): 40 days

Post-public notice ownership change: 20 days

No-dues certificate (NDC): 15 days

Conversion from leasehold to freehold: 35 days

Change of partners in partnership firm: 20 days

SCF to SCO conversion: 30 days

Corrections in records/services: 30 days

Registering & Licensing Authority (RLA)

Learner’s licence: 1 day

Driving licence (new/renewal/duplicate/address change): 10 days

Vehicle registration & RC-related services: 10 days

Ownership transfers (including death/auction cases): 10 days

NOC for vehicles outside state & hypothecation termination: 10 days

Tourism department

Permission for movie shoot: 7 days

Guest house booking approvals: 7 days

Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU)

Bus passes (ISBT-17, sub-urban routes): 3 days

Bus passes (Sampark Centres, other routes): 5 days

Education departments

Directorate of higher education:

Bona fide & character certificates: 7 days

Directorate of school education:

School leaving certificate: 10 days

Duplicate certificate: 20 days

Certificate verification: 20 days
