Chandigarh: Last day to clear property tax dues

The municipal corporation (MC) has appealed to all residential and commercial property owners to deposit their property tax by May 31 to avail rebate benefits and avoid penalties.

Property owners can avail a 20% rebate on residential property tax and a 10% rebate on commercial property tax if they make the payment within the prescribed period.

MC commissioner Amit Kumar urged taxpayers to use the online payment facility or Sampark Centres to clear their dues. He said timely payment of property tax not only helps residents save money but also contributes to the development and maintenance of civic infrastructure and public services in the city.

The commissioner further informed that after the expiry of the rebate period, defaulters will have to pay 25% penalty over and above the prescribed tax amount, along with 12% interest.
