After staying above 40°C for the past six days, the maximum temperature of the city fell below 40°C due to dust storms in the morning. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperature is likely to cross 40°C again from Saturday onwards.

This follows as trace rain (less than 0.1 mm) was recorded at the IMD observatory on Friday morning. As per IMD, a Western Disturbance (WD) is active over the region which led to dust storms and light rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh.

Because of the impact of the WD, maximum temperature fell from 44.2°C on Thursday to 39.3°C on Friday, at normal.

Minimum temperature meanwhile rose from 25.7°C on Thursday to 26.2°C on Friday, 0.7°C above normal, being the highest in all season.

As per IMD, chances of heatwave will return from Saturday onwards, even as maximum temperature won’t immediately go back to 44°C. A fresh WD is likely to affect the region around May 28.

In the next three days, maximum temperature will remain between 40°C and 42°C while minimum temperature will remain between 23°C and 24°C.
