Thunderstorm cleanses Ludhiana’s air

This rain spell resulted in a significant improvement in the air quality index (AQI), going down from “poor” at 264 in the early hours of Thursday to 51 to be placed in the “satisfactory” category within a span of 12 hours

At 22.5°C, Chandigarh records coldest day of season

At 22.5°C, the maximum temperature was 2.8 degrees below normal in Chandigarh. It is the lowest that it has gone this season till now as the weather remained cloudy during the day. Rain was recorded in southern parts of Haryana which also cooled the city.

Between 201-300, AQI is classified as poor and can cause breathing discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure

During Diwali, the AQI had gone past 400 in Sector 53 which was the first time this has happened since 2019. (HT)
