Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Sunday criticised the BJP-led central government over the latest increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices, alleging that the continuous rise in fuel and essential commodity costs is adding to the financial burden on ordinary citizens.

Demanding an immediate rollback of the ₹29 hike in domestic LPG cylinder prices, Cheema said the Centre must take effective steps to curb inflation.
“Poor and middle-class families are already struggling under the burden of inflation, and the fresh hike in cooking gas prices has further increased their hardships,” Cheema said.
Cheema alleged that the Centre is using international developments, including the US-Iran war, as an excuse to justify price hikes.
“The increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices has already impacted small businesses, street vendors, and local eateries. With domestic LPG prices now also rising, the financial pressure on households and small entrepreneurs will only intensify,” Cheema said.
