Domestic help among 3 named in jewellery theft FIR in Ludhiana

All booked for allegedly stealing gold and diamond rings from employer’s house on Dhandra Road, police said.

A domestic help, her husband and one of their relatives have been booked for allegedly stealing gold and diamond rings from her employer’s house on Dhandra Road, police said.

An FIR was registered at Sadar police station on the complaint of Manjeet Kaur, a resident of the Enclave area, against her domestic help Suneha, her husband Manjeet Singh, both residents of Gopalpur village, and their relative Jagveer Singh of Jhameri village.

According to the complainant, on February 5, her daughter Harpreet Kaur, who lives in Canada, visited India and kept one diamond ring and two gold rings in a bag in her bedroom. A few days later, the jewellery was found missing.

The family questioned Suneha, who initially denied the allegation but later allegedly confessed to stealing the jewellery and handing them to her husband. The jewellery was then given to Jagveer Singh to sell.

Investigating officer Amandeep Singh said a case was registered and the accused were booked Sections 331(3), 305 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused are yet to be arrested.
