Baramulla MP Er Rashid on Wednesday began a hunger strike on Human Rights Day seeking resolution of issues pertaining to J&K and Ladakh.

Awami Ittehad Party chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that Baramulla MP Er Rashid has begun a one-day hunger strike on International Human Rights Day, in line with the announcement he made earlier in the Lok Sabha. “Er Rashid started the strike this morning before attending the Parliament session, using the symbolic step to remind the government of the unresolved concerns of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and the need for a humane and sincere approach in addressing them.”
He said that MP Baramulla had already informed the Lok Sabha of his plan to fast on December 10, and said the strike is meant to draw attention to the decades of pain and unaddressed grievances in J&K.
Earlier in Parliament, he urged both Treasury and Opposition benches to respond with a humane and responsible approach instead of allowing political considerations to overshadow public suffering.
