Former Punjab chief minister and BJP leader Captain Amarinder Singh underwent a successful knee replacement surgery at Fortis Hospital in Mohali on Tuesday.

The 83-year-old politician was admitted to the facility on Monday after experiencing persistent discomfort that had limited his mobility in recent months. A senior consultant at the hospital confirmed on Wednesday that the procedure was performed on his right knee on Tuesday and that the two-time chief minister is currently stable.
As a precautionary measure, given his age, he has been moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for monitoring by a specialist team of doctors.
In 2022, Capt Amarinder had undergone a spinal surgery in London, and last year, he had a similar procedure on his other knee.
Hospital sources said that if his recovery continues at the current pace, he will soon begin physiotherapy before being cleared for discharge in four-five days.
