During interrogation, the suspects revealed they were acting at the behest of foreign-based criminals operating from Germany and the US to supply weapons to active criminal gangs in Punjab.

This development follows the earlier arrest of two Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives who were caught procuring and planting three grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED) near Balachaur. That IED was later used in a blast at the Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh. The suspects were also tied to a separate extortion incident involving a firing at a travel agent’s residence in Garhshankar, both orchestrated by their overseas handlers.

Preliminary investigations establish operational linkages between the local operatives and foreign handlers orchestrating terror and organised crime across the region. With the latest arrests of the weapons suppliers, police have registered a case at the state special operation cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar and are conducting further investigation to dismantle the broader network.
