A fire broke out at a wood and coal depot in Sundar Nagar on Kuchha Malak Road in Jagraon during the early hours of Friday, damaging a large quantity of stored material.

The blaze was reported around 3am and quickly spread across the depot, engulfing stocks of wood and coal. Residents living near the depot informed the owner and police after noticing the fire, following which fire brigade teams reached the spot and launched firefighting operations.
Locals said the depot is located in a densely populated residential area and raised concerns over the reported storage of gas cylinders and diesel at the site.
Police personnel from the Bus Stand police chowki also reached the spot to assist emergency teams and manage the situation.
Residents gathered outside their homes as firefighting operations continued.
No casualties were reported in the incident; however, the fire caused extensive damage, reducing a substantial quantity of wood and coal to ashes.
Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
