The accused was captured in the CCTVs installed in the area while entering and escaping from the house.

The police lodged an FIR against the accused, identified as Vishal, who runs a fast food stall at Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Interstate bus terminal.

The case was filed on the statement of Prince, the landlord of the house.

Prince, in his statement, informed that he was present at his house when the accused knocked at the door. Kajal, younger daughter of his tenant Partap Thakur, opened the door. The accused gave her a push and barged in the house. He targeted Sonia, 25, elder daughter of Thakur, who was sitting in the veranda and stabbed him.

Prince said that when he tried to intervene, the accused assaulted him with a knife. After he raised an alarm, the accused escaped from the spot.

ASI Gurdev Ram, who is investigating the case, said that the Model Town police lodged an FIR against the accused under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 451 (house trespass in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) of the IPC. A hunt is on for the arrest of the accused.

The ASI added that the reason behind the assault has been not ascertained yet. The injured woman stated that she does not know the assailant.
