Five Covid cases were reported from Ludhiana district on Monday, the most since May 14 when seven cases were logged.

Also, one patient succumbed to the virus. This is the second Covid-related death in the district in the past four days. On Friday, a cancer patient from Dhandari had lost the battle to the virus.
The deceased was a 26- year- old man from Barota Road. He was admitted to a private hospital for treatment of a gastric issue. However, his condition kept deteriorating after he tested positive for Covid and he passed away on Sunday evening. As per the health department, none of his family members have contracted thevirus.
Among the five patients who tested positive, three of them are from the same family in Khanna.
The health department team has formed a cluster around their house to check the spread of the virus.
According to the civil surgeon Dr SP Singh, by forming a cluster, the health department team will collect the samples of people living in 25 houses on either side of the houses of patients.
He further said, “The number of Covid patients has been increasing in the last few days in some regions of the country, which is a matter of concern, so those who have yet to get vaccinated must get it done as soon as possible.”
