Officials of the municipal corporation on Thursday night seized a tractor-trolley and issued a challan after a private contractor’s staff was caught attempting to unload garbage near Gurdwara Nanaksar Sahib on Ferozepur Road. The driver said the waste came from a nearby educational institute.

In a separate drive, six other violators were fined for dumping waste at locations including Ferozepur Road and Lodhi Club Road. The action was taken as part of the municipal corporation’s night patrolling initiative, carried out under the directions of mayor Inderjit Kaur and municipal commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal to prevent open waste dumping.
Officials said awareness drives are also being conducted to educate residents about proper waste disposal. Citizens have been urged to hand over garbage to municipal collectors or use the designated static compactor sites across the city.
“The city’s cleanliness depends on both enforcement and public cooperation. We appeal to all residents to follow disposal guidelines and avoid open dumping,” said a civic body official.
