Ludhiana: Two die as speeding truck hits bike in Focal Point

Police said the two, who lived in the same area, were returning home from work when the accident occurred near a fire brigade office

Two men were killed when a speeding truck trailer rammed into their motorcycle in Phase-IV of Focal Point on Thursday night, police said, adding that the impact was so severe that the duo died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Narendra Garg, 45, and Satendra, 22, residents of Jamalpur. Garg worked in a factory at Focal Point, while Satendra was employed as a security guard at the same unit.

Police said the two, who lived in the same area, were returning home from work when the accident occurred near a fire brigade office. The truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Jeevan Nagar police reached the spot and took the truck trailer into custody. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver, they say.

The bodies have been sent to civil hospital for post-mortem. Garg is survived by his wife and children, while Satendra lived alone in rented accommodation. Their families have been informed, the police said. An FIR will be registered after recording statements of the families, the police added.
