The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana Chapter, has demanded a fresh enquiry into the registration of an FIR against doctors of Orison Hospital in connection with the recent body mix-up case.

A delegation, comprising nearly 300 doctors, met the deputy commissioner on Tuesday to lodge their protest and place their stand on record. The delegation was led by Dr Manoj Kumar Sobti, Patron, IMA Ludhiana.
During the meeting, the IMA stated that the incident in question was the result of an administrative failure at the mortuary-level and did not constitute a criminal act. The association also clarified that out of the four doctors named in the FIR, Dr Nirmaljeet S Malhi and Dr Rajiv Grover are treating doctors and not directors of the hospital, while only Dr Sunil Mittal and Dr Manisha Mittal are hospital directors.
The IMA said that both the doctors have been wrongly implicated despite having no direct role, supervision or operational control over mortuary services, which are handled by designated operational and support staff.
The deputy commissioner, Ludhiana, has acknowledged the matter and said he would order a fresh enquiry in the case.
