A 30-year-old man was arrested from a village in Fatehabad district after a three-year-old girl was found bleeding severely in a room in the village crematorium on Tuesday, said police officials.
Talking to HT over the phone, Fatehabad Sadar police station house officer (SHO) Kuldeep Singh said that a three-year-old girl was playing in the street outside her home on Tuesday and later she was found to be missing.
“Her family members started searching for her and after two hours, she was found in a room built in the village crematorium. The villagers informed us and we went there. The girl, who was unconscious, was rushed to Maharaja Agrasen Medical College in Agroha. Prime facie, it seems that the accused, who is a neighbour, had beaten up the girl and molested her. After medical examination, doctors will ascertain whether the girl child was raped or not,” he added.
The SHO said that the accused Tarseem has been arrested and they are yet to record the statement of the girl’s family and the girl’s condition is stated to be critical.
