PDP president Mehbooba Mufti chaired a review meeting on AIIMS south Kashmir, with the ruling National Conference (NC) taking a swipe saying the “meeting was arranged by the BJP”.
The AIIMS Kashmir is being constructed at picturesque location in Awantipora. Former chief minister was accompanied by two of her party’s legislators, Waheed ur Rehman Parra and Rafiq Ahmad Naik.
“Visited AIIMS Awantipora today and held discussions with officials and executing agencies on the way forward for the project. Recognising the significance of the institution for the region, conveyed my commitment to helping address concerns and encouraging greater coordination among all stakeholders,” Mehbooba said, adding that AIIMS Kashmir was a dream of her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. “This hospital place is coming at a very beautiful place. The Kashmir lacks medical infrastructure especially when dreaded diseases like cancer are spreading fast here. This hospital will also have a research centre,” she said.
NC spokesperson Ifra Jan took a swipe and said in what capacity PDP president went AIIMS for review. “Unless the BJP organised this briefing for its allies, since AIIMS is a central government project, it would not have been possible without the centres approval,” Jan wrote on X.
