Nakodar killings: Jalandhar police bring 3 gangsters on production warrant

Jalandhar rural police have brought three persons having association with gangster Sampat Nehra on production warrant in the ongoing investigation of the Nakodar double murder case, officials said on Sunday.
A local court has sent them to five-day police custody.
On December 8, Bhupinder Singh, a police protectee, was shot dead by five assailants while his gunman, Mandeep Singh, had sustained multiple bullet injuries to which he succumbed a day later.
A senior official privy to the development said the police had brought gangsters Monu Daggar from Kaithal jail, Sam Mohammad from Faridkot jail and Kanwarjit Singh from Kapurthala jail on Saturday evening.
Jalandhar rural senior superintendent of police Swarandeep Singh said they have got major leads during the interrogation of the gangsters. “We will nab the five shooters very soon,” he added.
Police sources said these gangsters have links with Sampat Nehra, who has allegedly claimed the responsibility of the murder.
Bhupinder was the third Punjab Police protectee who was shot dead in the last over one month. Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was killed on November 4 followed by Dera Sirsa follower and Bargari sacrilege accused Pardeep Singh Kataria, who was gunned down on November 10.
As per the information, Bhupinder had received an extortion call of ₹30 lakh from a gangster, who identified himself as Rinda, following which an FIR was also registered at the Nakodar city police on November 3 and he was given security cover.
