NOCs row: Property dealers put off agitation till August 15

A day after commencing an indefinite agitation against the state government outside tehsil (sub-registrar) offices across the state, the Punjab Colonisers and Property Dealers’ Association has put off the agitation after getting an assurance of a meeting with chief minister Bhagwant Mann after August 15.

Lambasting the state government over non-issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for plots, registration of FIRs against builders, hike in collector rates, among other issues, the Punjab Colonisers and Property Dealers’ Association had commenced the agitation against the government on August 8. The move comes after the intervention of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, who assured to arrange a meeting between CM and the association over the issue after August 15.

State president of the association GS Lamba said they wanted a solution for the problems being faced by the sector, which has now been pushed towards slump by the state government. “Arora has assured to arrange a meeting with the CM after August 15, due to which we have decided to postpone the agitation till then. But the association will again raise the agitation, if the government fails to fulfil the genuine demands of the real estate sector,” he added.

Lambasting the state government over non-issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for plots, registration of FIRs against builders, hike in collector rates, among other issues, the association had commenced the agitation against the government on Monday. The protesters had also locked the gates of the sub-registrar (central) office, thereby stalling all property-related work.
