The anti-narcotics cell of district police has arrested a man allegedly involved in supplying narcotics in the Tricity region and recovered 43gm of cocaine from his possession.
According to police, the accused, Anchit Chhabra alias Chintu, of Peer Muchalla, Punjab, was apprehended near Herbal Park in Sector 26 on Wednesday following a tip-off.
Police intercepted his XUV500 vehicle and recovered the contraband during a search. A mobile phone, cash and the vehicle used in the operation were also seized.
DCP (crime and traffic) Amrinder Singh said the accused had procured the cocaine from Delhi and was part of a larger supply network involving several other individuals. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to three days of police custody for further investigation.
