A notorious criminal has been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to Udhampur district jail, said officials on Saturday.

The Jammu district administration had issued a detention warrant against the notorious criminal.
“District magistrate, Jammu, Dr Rakesh Minhas, issued a detention warrant against a habitual offender, Veer Vikrant Singh, also known by the aliases Sahil and Shooter,” said an official spokesperson.
The accused has a criminal profile and was a grave threat to public safety and peace.
Acting on a detailed dossier submitted by the SSP, Jammu, the DM exercised powers under Section 8(1)(a) of the J&K Public Safety Act, 1978.
The order directs the immediate detention of the subject to prevent him from acting in any manner prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, he said.
