Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday questioned chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal over the lack of progress in the sacrilege cases, alleging that the state government had failed to deliver justice despite being in office for over four-and-a-half years.
Referring to AAP’s pre-poll promise to resolve the cases within 24 hours, Warring said the government had let off the Akalis while registering false cases against senior Congress leaders, which were later quashed by the Punjab and Haryana high court.
The Punjab Congress chief also claimed that the recent summoning of individuals in connection with the sacrilege cases was aimed at creating an impression that the government was pursuing justice.
He further alleged that the AAP government deliberately put the sacrilege issue on the back burner and reopened it only after the Akal Takht’s edict against Mann.
