Accused have been identified as Kirandeep Singh and Soni Singh, and they hailed from Behman Diwana village, located near Bathinda. Raghveer Singh, alias Lucky, a resident of Arjun Nagar, Bathinda was found brutally murdered in his rented accommodation on September 12.

Investigators said that the deceased and Soni used to perform at cultural programmes as women, while the other accused is a driver.

A murder case was registered at Canal police station against unknown persons.

Superintendent of police (SP) Aaswant Dhaliwal said that the deceased’s sister’s statement brought the role of Kirandeep and Soni under the scanner.

The SP said Kirandeep had been in a relationship with Soni for nearly four years, but Kirandeep later established a relationship with the deceased Raghveer.

“However, the relationship between Kirandeep and Raghveer soured. When Kirandeep attempted to leave and go back to Soni, Raghveer resisted the move. Facing opposition from Raghveer, Kirandeep and Soni jointly plotted his murder,” police said.

According to the police, the accused used a hammer to kill Raghveer and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered.
