Amid IndiGo’s fiasco across the country, the Northern Railway announced an additional AC coach in Jammu-New Delhi Rajdhani Express for the next seven days, beginning Friday night.

Uchit Singhal, senior divisional commercial manager, said, “This decision to add the AC coach with 72 seats has been taken to accommodate passengers stranded due to recent flight cancellations and to help them reach their destinations.”
This arrangement will be in place till December 11. “This will enable passengers affected by disruptions in air services to reach their destinations by rail,” said Singhal.
Besides, a pair of a special Vande Bharat train with 20 coaches has also been planned between New Delhi and Udhampur on Saturday in wake of heavy rush of passengers.
Also, the Northern Railway decided to increase 3AC and chair car coaches in a few more trains. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, chief public relations officer, Northern Railway, said that one 3AC coach each in 12425/26 Jammu Rajdhani express and 12424/23 Dibrugarh Rajdhani express have been increased after experiencing a surge in passengers’ travel needs.
“Similarly, one AC Chair Car coach each in Chandigarh 12045/46 Shatabdi express and 12030/29 Amritsar Shatabdi express have also been augmented,” Upadhyay added.
