A scuffle broke out between the police and protesters associated with the Berozgar Sanjha Morcha outside chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence in Sangrur as they were moving forward to press for their demands.
Sukhwinder Singh Dhillwan, the state convener of the Berozgar Sanjha Morcha, alleged that youths who came here to press for their demands were harassed.
He claimed that it’s been four years since the government last released posts in the education and health sectors.
Gulab Singh, another protester, said they came to demand employment because no recruitment has been made in the education sector for over five years.
The protesters demanded the immediate release and recruitment for several vacant positions, including master cadre and lecturers, assistant professors, multi-purpose health workers, and the conducting of the written examination for 250 art and craft posts. They have been sitting outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Sangrur since December 25.
