Briefing the media after the meeting, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said legal aid to the victims was the need of the hour as the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has failed to successfully challenge the bail plea of Tytler.

He said along with legal aid to challenge the anticipatory bail in the Pulbangash Gurdwara murder case in which three Sikhs were killed, the main witness Lakhwinder Kaur will also be given necessary financial aid.

He also said that the SGPC has also approved providing legal aid in the Supreme Court for the ongoing case against Dera Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

The SGPC also took notice of the government’s interference in Sikh religious affairs and their organisations. A resolution was passed against the appointment of a non-Sikh as the administrator of the Gurdwara Board of Takht Hazur Sahib in Nanded.

The SGPC’s executive also approved the Punjabi translation of the English book giving information about the role of Punjabis in Kalapani (Cellular) jail.
