In her complaint to the Rewari women’s police, the Hindu woman, who is in her early 20’s and a resident of Dharuhera in the district, said she was befriended by Mosam Khan, who had introduced himself as Prem in 2020.

“I came in contact with Mosam when I was studying in BA (II) in 2020 and he introduced himself as Prem and used to give me expensive gifts. He also lured me of providing a government job. He forcibly took me on his motorcycle to Haridwar on November 18, 2020. The previous night, he raped me and then we married in a temple there. Two days later, his father Tahir Khan, uncles — Taswar, Akbar Khan, Suleman and his father’s friend Babu Lal — reached Haridwar and brought them to Nuh’s Uton village, where they converted her religion at gunpoint and performed Nikah rituals,” she added.

The woman further alleged that she was kept hostage for over two years before she escaped from there on April 19, when Mosam Khan’s entire family went to fields.

“The entire family thrashed me on April 18 and Mosam’s brother Salim also raped me several times,” she added.

Rewari DSP Amit Kumar said an FIR has been registered at women’s police station under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 372 (selling minor for purposes of prostitution), 496 (marriage ceremony fraudulently gone through without lawful marriage) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code against Mosam Khan, his father Tahir Khan, brother Salim and others.

“We are thoroughly investigating the case and a probe is on. The woman is currently staying with her parents,” the DSP added.
