The 10th K K Birla National Conventional Debate is set to take place at Delhi University’s Hindu College on Wednesday, the National Constitution Day. The topic this year is ‘The Indian Constitution is merely a weapon of the governments’.

The Hindi debate competition is organised by the college’s debating society Vagmi in collaboration with the K K Birla Foundation. The debate will have 24 participants from various colleges in Delhi, including Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi School of Journalism and Jamia Milia Islamia.
The topic “was chosen for its unique ability to transcend contemporary scenarios and take into account historical episodes,” said a college official, adding, “With the recent completion of 50 years since the period of the Emergency, the topic provides as an essential platform to critically examine this dark chapter in Indian democracy.”
The debate will be inaugurated by the Hindu College principal, Prof. Anju Srivastava, with K.K Birla Foundation director, Dr. Suresh Ritupatna, as the chief guest.
