Fire breaks out at AIIMS in Delhi; no casualties reported | Video

AIIMS Delhi: The fire department said that the incident happened on the second-floor of the main building.

A fire broke out in the emergency ward of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi on Monday afternoon, following which several fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control after an hour of the incident, the fire department said.

It said that the incident happened on the second-floor of the main building. As per ANI, fire broke out in the endoscopy room, and all the patients were evacuated.

A fire call was received from the emergency ward of AIIMS 11.54 am, the Delhi Fire Services director Atul Garg said, adding that a total of 8 fire tenders were engaged to douse the fire.

Fire is in under control now and the search operation continues, the DFS said.

The public medical research university and hospital is located at Sri Aurobindo Marg in Delhi's Ansari Nagar East, and is the most prominent government hospital in the country. Every day, around 30,000 patients from all over the nation seek medical attention here.
