Man’s body with head injury found in south Delhi

A homeless man in his 40s was found dead with head injuries on Jaitpur Road, Delhi. Police are investigating the cause, awaiting autopsy results.

New Delhi: An unidentified homeless man, suspected to be in his 40s, was found dead with head injuries near a footpath on Jaitpur Road in south Delhi’s Badarpur on Saturday morning, police said.

Investigation was initiated to determine whether he was hit by a blunt object or died after accidentally falling on the footpath due to which his head hit the concrete tile.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Aishwarya Sharma said that police were informed about the body at around 9.30am. A police team reached there and took the unconscious man to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

“Local enquiry revealed that the victim was a footpath dweller living in the area for nearly a year. We are trying to identify him and determine how he died. The autopsy report that is awaited would help us know the exact cause of his death,” she added.
