Bunking comes naturally to all students just like eating and sleeping. Well, students in Delhi University’s (DU) North Campus bunk, but this time with fitness activities in mind, such as Power Yoga and Zumba. Ramjas College has organised the second episode of Youthoria – a series of fun fitness events to mark the centennial year of the college and students from colleges such as Satyawati College, Hans Raj College, and Indraprastha College for Women have left their classes to attend the power-packed event.
“Even though internals are around the corner and we should study, we bunked our classes just to attend this. We had heard about the event and decided to check it out, as its so us. It’s amazing! We loved the Zumba session and the live painting done by Ramjasians,” says Tamanna Jindal, a B Com (Hons) student of Satyawati College. Apart from Zumba and Power Yoga, the students were also entertained by the members of Melange, the Fine Arts Society of the college, who danced and alternatively live painted P V Sindhu’s portrait. “It is the first time that live painting has happened in DU. As this is the centennial year of the college, we wanted to do something
that would be a fusion of art, music and dance. As Youthoria is about promoting fitness, what could have been better than Sindhu for a portrait?” says Priyanshi Sachan, a member of Melange.
Youthoria is the brainchild of Saguna Puri Singh, a professor from the History Department, who says, “The centennial year is all about celebrating the youth and promoting fitness.” She adds, “We had Pilates and A cappella in the first episode, and the second had Power Yoga and Zumba. The turnout was astonishing. We were expecting about 500 students but 1605 turned up.”
