Hygiene rating must for all businesses selling eatables in Ludhiana

Going ahead with the quality food assurance agenda of the Mission Tandarust Punjab, a meeting of all government departments, involved in this campaign, was held under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner (DC) Pradeep Kumar Agrawal at his office here on Wednesday.

The meeting decided to make hygiene rating mandatory for hotels, dhabas and any other business selling eatables.
District health officer Dr Andesh Kaur Kang said, as per the directions of the Punjab government, all hotels, dhabas, and businesses selling eatables have to get their hygiene rating done of their premises. She said till date, only 10 businesses have got their rating done and urged the others to do so before October 31.
She said, “For getting the rating done, agencies approved by the health department or the government can be contacted. Similarly, each businessman should get registered and take licence.”
The DC directed the health department to ensure that all businesses involved in the sale of eatables have their hygiene rating and failure to do so would attract strict action.
He also urged the companies, involved in online food ordering business, should deliver food of only those establishments, that have hygiene rating. He appealed to the residents to check the rating of a particular establishment before ordering food.
He also directed the health department officials to check the quality of vegetables being sold in the city.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the performance of different government departments that are part of the Mission Tandarust Punjab. He directed all departments to work jointly for the success of the mission.
Show-cause notices were issued to the officials who remained absent from the meeting.
Additional deputy commissioner (development) Dr Rishipal Singh and several other officials were present at the meeting.
