3 killed after truck rams into stationary bus on Jaipur-Ajmer highway: Police

The bus, carrying 20 passengers to Jaipur was parked on roadside due to a mechanical fault after its axle reportedly broke

Three pilgrims returning from Sanwariya Seth Temple in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh were killed and six others were injured on Monday after a speeding truck rammed into their bus on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway-48 near Dudu in Jaipur, police said.

The bus, carrying 20 passengers to Jaipur was parked on the roadside due to a mechanical fault after its axle reportedly broke when a truck rammed into it from behind and overturned into a roadside ditch. Of the six injured, three are children, police said.

Dudu police station officer Suresh Kumar Gurjar said the deceased have been identified as Madhuraj (30), Rahul Harijan (29), and Bhanwar Singh Rajawat (30).

Police, assisted by local residents, launched a rescue operation after receiving information about the crash. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital and later referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Their condition is reported to be stable, police said.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary of Dudu Hospital for post-mortem examination.
