Rajasthan: Constable hailed for saving infant amid Karauli communal violence
A picture of Netresh Sharma, a constable in the Rajasthan Police, holding the infant in his arms and running through narrow lanes of Karauli is being widely circulated on social media.
Netresh Sharma, a constable in the Rajasthan Police, is being hailed for saving an infant during communal violence in Karauli that broke out on Saturday. A picture of the constable holding the infant in his arms and running through narrow lanes of Karauli is being widely circulated on social media.

Sharing the image on Twitter, Shamli SSP Sukirti Madhav Mishra said, "So proud of constable Netresh Sharma of Rajasthan Police for saving a precious life. This picture is indeed worth a thousand words."
The violence broke out when some miscreants pelted stones on a bike rally crossing the Muslim-dominant area in the city. The bike rally was taken out by Hindu outfits on Nav Samvatsar.
On Monday, curfew continued in Rajasthan’s Karauli. The police have arrested 46 miscreants and detained seven for interrogation.
Inspector general of Police (IG), Bharatpur Range, Prasanna Kumar Khamesra said after stone-pelting took place during the procession in Futa Kot area of the main market in Karauli, the police acted promptly and arrested 46 people. The police have also detained seven people for interrogation and seized 21 vehicles.
Praising Netresh Sharma's bravery, chief minister Ashok Gehlot dialled the constable and announced his promotion as head constable.
Gehlot also lashed out at the Centre for the violence, and said the central government should take responsibility and condemn recent communal violence in Rajasthan.
The CM urged the prime minister to react to the gruesome incident as soon as possible. "PM Modi should take responsibility and condemn recent communal violence in Rajasthan. It's his duty to maintain law and order. I urge him to address the issue soon."
"It is everyone's right to propagate the goodness of any religion. But the unrest spread by playing DJ, raising slogans in the procession, and anti-social elements sparked riots. In the process, innocent lives get trapped and those who are not involved in the riots die. To stop the violence and disturbance in the country, the central government should give a strong message," he said.
