ED car carrying arrested Bengal minister’s close aide Arpita Mukherjee meets with accident
Hours ago, Mukherjee was remanded in one-day ED custody in connection with the SSC scam case. The ED had prayed for 14-day custody of Mukherjee.
A car part of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) convoy ferrying Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee's close aide Arpita Mukherjee to the CGO complex in Salt Lake from the Bankshall Court met with a minor accident late on Sunday. Images shared by news agency ANI showed the bonnet of the white Innova, in which Mukherjee was being taken by the ED, damaged on one side. According to some media reports, the accident could be “an attempt to breach” the ED convoy.

Hours ago, Mukherjee was remanded in one-day ED custody in connection with the SSC scam case. The ED had prayed for 14-day custody of Mukherjee. She will be produced in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Monday.
The former actor was arrested by the ED on Saturday after hours of grilling at her residence where crores of rupees in cash and other valuables were allegedly recovered by the central agency.
A total of more than 20 mobile phones have also been recovered from the premises of Mukherjee, the purpose and use of which are being ascertained, the probe agency was quoted as saying.
“Besides cash, a number of other incriminating documents, records, details of dubious companies, electronic devices, foreign currency and gold have also been recovered from the various premises of the persons linked to the scam,” it added.
The ED also arrested Chatterjee following multiple raids by the probe agency in the teacher recruitment scam in the state. After his arrest, the Bankshall Court in Kolkata granted ED two-day custody of Chatterjee.
