IIT Kharagpur student found dead on campus, suicide suspected: Police
21-year-old IIT Kharagpur student from Ahmedabad found dead on campus; police suspect suicide after fall from eighth floor, no note recovered.
A third-year undergraduate student at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in West Bengal was found dead on the campus on Sunday, police said, adding that it is suspected to be a case of suicide. Officials said he allegedly jumped from the eighth floor of a building.

The 21-year-old engineering student was a resident of Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
“It is with profound grief that IIT Kharagpur announces the untimely demise of a third-year undergraduate student from the department of mechanical engineering,” the IIT said in a statement.
Police said the student was found lying in a pool of blood near the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hall of Residence in the morning.
“Prima facie, it appears that the student died by suicide and jumped from the eighth floor. No suicide note was found in his room,” said an officer of Kharagpur police station.
